Frequently asked questions
Can I swim or bathe with the sensor?
It is waterproof and works as long as it is not submerged deeper than about 1 metre (3 feet) or kept under water for longer than 30 minutes.
Where can I wear the sensor, and does this affect the sensor’s accuracy?
The LinX CGM blood glucose sensor can be inserted into the abdomen or the upper arm, where there is some fatty tissue. When placing the sensor, it is important to change the insertion site with each sensor when it expires, every 2 weeks. If you use the same site too often, the skin may not heal, which can cause scarring or skin irritation.
Accuracy by site
There was no significant difference in sensor accuracy between the different application sites. This allows insertion on both the upper arm and the abdomen without you having to worry about differences in performance. It gives you greater flexibility if you use your own “favourite” sites and alternate the sensors between them when they expire: for example, two weeks on the right upper arm, then the next two weeks on the left upper arm, and so on.
Can children wear it too?
Of course – from the age of 2 we recommend integrating CGM devices into therapy, if you feel it is needed. With the app, you can remotely monitor your child’s blood glucose values.
